Time flies and we are getting ready to welcome a new year, and with it, a whole host of design trends. This year, 2022, has been all about neutrals. Beiges, whites, and greys have taken over everything – from our furniture to our kitchens. But what does 2023 bring?

Let’s find out!

Dramatic Interiors

First, we have dramatic interiors. A 360-degree turn from 2022, the year 2023 is all about the Gothic. These interiors are doused in rich paint colours like blacks, blues, and even purples. They also call for chandeliers, ornate cornices and medallions, and lush drapes. A great way to accent this style is with black or antique brass hardware. The best part about this kind of decor is it can add a whole new dimension to the smallest of spaces.

Herringbone flooring is also a great choice for this style.

Biophilic Design

Next, we have biophilic design. This trend is all about bringing the outdoor in. Or more technically, about enhancing our connectivity to nature. A simple way to incorporate biophilic design would be to bring some of nature’s goodness into your home – be that plants or flowers or even a bunch of succulents. Another clever way to infuse biophilic design is to experiment with furniture and finishes that celebrate organic forms. Think circles and fluid shapes for furniture, instead of squares and rectangles. Or oak laminate floors … the possibilities are limitless.

Metallic Finishes

Finally, we have the proliferation of metallic finishes. These lend a luxurious flair to any space. If done well, they can even bring some much-needed texture. And the best thing? This trend can play either into minimalist or maximalist styles. Think as simple as metallic artwork or cushions, or as big as wallpaper or kitchen cabinets. Even your hardware can be spruced up – use satin chrome or gold hardware to add that pop of glamour.

As we’ve seen, 2023 is about ditching the banal. It’s about bringing some colour and drama into your homes. So, what are you waiting for? Ditch the beige for a pop of personality.
